Residential, Antwerp
The fifties has marked a decade were many architectural gems were built in the surroundings of Antwerp, namely in Deurne Zuid. On the edge of the Boelaer Park, we converted this former architects’ house to 3 apartments.
As we were inspired by the style of this building and with a profound respect for the iconic architecture, the design of the interior leads back to mid-century influences. The series Mad Men, setting the tone for the finishing of the apartments. The color palette and materials of the existing house were reused. The blue color used on the front door was used as the key color in the apartment. A set of primary colors were used to accentuate and define the design details. The color play from the wooden flooring matches the foliage deck from the trees in the park.
We designed a lighting fixture especially for this series of apartments, in collaboration with DARK. Using a sphere as the base for the sconce, the design perfectly fitted the 58’s- spirit of the time.
